Who says Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) and Green Tea(GT) are only for consumption?  As much as it’s beneficial for you internally, it’s amazing for your hair too!

I’ve been natural for 2 years now, this month would mark my 2-year hairaversary yay! (hair anniversary) and this ACV with a twist has helped me through my journey whilst I was transitioning all the way up until now.

Why you should rinse your hair with Apple Cider Vinegar

Your hair is mildly acidic with a PH of around 4.5 to 5.5, a similar PH to ACV.  It is not always possible to keep your hair slightly acidic since we use a large variety of  styling products throughout the week, with these products having an alkaline PH of 8 or more.  Therefore, this ACV rinse will balance the acidic levels and bring your hair back down to the optimum PH.  Not only that, it also removes build up on your scalp that has occurred by using all these styling products. It is very important that you purchase organic ACV with “the mother”  as this is the organic unpasteurised version and would be more beneficial.

Why you should rinse with Green Tea

Green tea contains antioxidants and naturally occurring caffeine, there have been studies proving that in small doses caffeine can stimulate growth as well as reduce hair shedding when left on the hair for approximately 2 minutes.

So I combined both these products to make my apple cider vinegar rinse with a twist, now you can get the best of both worlds.  It will leave your hair soo soft and shiny :-), use this mixture once per month.

For this rinse, you will need

4 tablespoons of Apple cider vinegar with the mother

1 green tea bag

1 Cup of water

1 Spray bottle

1 funnel(optional but useful )

Make your green tea, add 1/3 cup boiling water to the tea bag and let it simmer for 2 minutes then add 2/3cup  of cold water. Or you could add 1 cup of boiling water but let it cool for a few hours.  Please be careful, ensure that the water is not too hot for your scalp.

When the water has cooled, add it to your spray bottle

Add 4 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar

shake and you’re ready!

Shampoo your hair as normal then spray the mixture directly onto your scalp, massage and leave for 2-5 minutes, then rinse out.

Apply your favourite conditioner and style as usual.
