I know that it can be hard at times to find the motivation needed to accomplish your health goals, but you need to ask yourself what do you want to achieve? whether it’s to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into your diet, lose weight or to gain weight? these are my top tips.
1- Have a positive mindset
Having a positive mindset will change everything for you. You have to remember that you are in control of your life and your health. Only you have the power to change yourself for the better.
No more ” I can’t do this” and more ” I can ”
2- Find like minded people
Surround yourself with individuals who have the same goals as yourself. You are then able to motivate and inspire each other on your new journey to a healthier lifestyle. There is nothing worse than surrounding yourself with people who do not support your new lifestyle decision. They will not understand your decision and so possibly discourage you from your goal.
3- Do not set unrealistic goals
Having unrealistic expectations can do more harm than good and as a result, it will knock your confidence dramatically. So setting small daily goals will be much more effective and rewarding.
4- Keep a journal
Take pictures of your progress from the beginning so that you are able to look back and see how far you’ve gotten. You can also buy your favorite jeans a size smaller if your aim is to lose weight or you can buy a larger size if your goal is to gain weight. This is to keep you motivated so you do not loose focus.
5- Change your thoughts into action
As wonderful as it is to have the intention to make a healthier lifestyle change, you need to put your thoughts into action. Instead of thinking about having that salad, go to the supermarket and purchase the ingredients to make yourself a delicious salad with your favourite toppings.
6- Make a list
At the beginning of your journey, make a list of all the reasons why you have decided to embark on this new journey. Always remind yourself why you are you doing it and how your new lifestyle change will enhance your overall health.
7- Treat yourself
It’s great to treat yourself for all the hard work you’ve done!. You are amazing and wonderful so go and buy yourself that bag you’ve always wanted or have a cheat day by having your favourite chocolate.
Just remember whatever you want you already have it, you just need to go out and get it! Change your mindset from negative to positive so that your actions are in alignment with your goals. Good luck on your journey.
